About My Journey. My Knowledge. My Experience.
The Story Behind My Training Journey.
I didn’t start dog training as a profession — it actually began as a hobby. I loved dogs ever since I was small. I used to watch training videos and read about dog behaviour for fun, just because I wanted to understand them better. But the funny part is, I didn’t even have a dog of my own until I was 16 years old. When I finally got my first dog, Randy, everything changed. She’s the reason I’m doing dog training today. From the moment I started training her by myself, I began applying all the things I had learned over the years. I still remember how quickly she started listening and following my commands — that’s when I realised how powerful proper communication between a dog and its owner can be.
After that, I started helping my friends and relatives with their dogs too. I didn’t plan to make it a career, but word started spreading and more people began asking for help. That’s how this journey started — without any big plan, but with a lot of love and patience. In 2022, I created my first dog training video series. I wanted to make something that helps owners train their dogs by themselves, even without hiring a trainer. I’ve always believed that the owner should understand the real science behind dog training. When the owner knows how everything works, the bond between them and their dog becomes stronger, and they gain real control.
Now, after working with dogs for more than three to four years, I do home visit training sessions mainly around Colombo and Gampaha. I don’t just train the dog and leave — I spend most of the time teaching the dog owner, how to handle and train their own dog. Because once they understand it properly, they can manage any situation confidently. My main goal has always been to train the owner, not just the dog. Later on, I realised my old video series didn’t go deep enough. It mostly focused on teaching basic commands like sit, stay, down and come — but not on solving real behaviour issues. That’s when I decided to create a new and improved video series. This one goes far beyond commands and focuses on understanding and correcting the problems that dog owners face every day.
I’ve given special attention to the “NO” command, because it’s the most important part of managing unwanted behaviour. I have explained how and when to use it properly — something that most dog owners struggle with. This new series is filled with real-life examples, practical lessons, and clear explanations in Sinhala, so every Sri Lankan dog owner can easily learn and apply them at home. My goal was simple — It was to create the one and only dog training video series that every dog owner in Sri Lanka truly needs.
